Before Tomorrow
She asked what I wanted to watch.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3, I said.
Some nights you need to see someone
get through what should have broken him.
Rocket, always finding someone to love
after the universe had taken so much.
I think I knew him
long before I knew why.
I used to have a world
just big enough for two.
Then one day I had to learn
how to live in it alone.
When I finally gathered
a few more stars to call mine,
I started fearing the dark
that would come when they left.
So I left…
I told myself a goodbye
hurts less when you’re the one who says it.
Funny how the heart aches
for the very things it was trying to protect.
Tonight there’s a ceiling I don’t know,
with tomorrow waiting quietly under it,
I find myself wishing they were here.
No grand promises.
No answers to what comes next.
Just familiar voices,
a little laughter,
and the comfort of not being alone.
Maybe hope is just this:
I can’t say what the morning holds,
and I still want to be there when it comes.
If the stars are kind
and tomorrow finds me here,
I want to see you all.
I don't know whyyyy
