Homes I Built

I have turned people into home,
lit rooms in them with my own flame,
patched walls with words unspoken,
slept in silence where I felt safe.

But homes can leave you homeless.
And I, a wanderer of hearts,
stood outside doors I once opened,
unwelcome in places I built from scratch.

You can knock and knock,
but no matter how loud your love echoes,
you can't push yourself
into someone’s story
if they’ve already written you out.

They smiled when I gave too much,
but called me cold when I stepped back.
They held my care like air,
needed, invisible,
but never truly seen.

Yeah, boy. sensitive...
In a world that applauds masks
and scorns the ones who feel too much.

So feel.
But for you this time.
Work with your hands steady,
heart gentle, but locked
until it’s safe to open.
Fill your own cracks,
not to be whole for them,
but to be full for you.

They’ll always chase better,
faster, louder, shinier.
But they forget.
once, you were the brilliance they envied.

So let them forget. You " "

just don’t forget yourself again.
